I would love to do all of this inside of Dropbox, but the risk of duplication and accidental deletion is too great, with too many points of access to the file tree. I'm curently figuring out work arounds involving a competitor (Backblaze) because I need to be able to access the video files locally on the LAN, but also have the peace of mind of an off-site backup. Backup Synology NAS to iCloud via iCloud sync folder. Right-click on a synced file and select Synology Drive > Get link to share the file with others. Open a browser, enter and sign in, and upload the files from the local computer to iCloud, your Synology iCloud photo sync task will be started. If you configure this sync to Download remote files only, you have the option of converting your Google online documents to locally accessible formats, such as Microsoft Office or jpeg. (The obvious issue here is that I am tying up my bandwidth in both directions needlessly.) It seems obvious that it would work that way in retrospect, but again, I had just come to rely on Dropbox's magical properties. Download the files that you need from Synology NAS to your local computer. To set up Synology Cloud Sync on Google Drive, follow the same steps outlined above but select Google Drive as the Remote Path. The main problem I have is that, when I move a file or folder on my NAS, it has to actually issue delete and upload commands to communicate to Dropbox, and vice versa if changes are done to the Dropbox server. Add functionality to your device with powerful collaboration, backup, communication, and management tools. I too am working with huge video files, and, having been spoiled for years on Dropbox's highly intelligent backend, underestimated the difficulties of syncing a drive to the cloud. With Cloud Sync, you can seamlessly sync and share files among your Synology NAS and multiple public clouds, such as Dropbox, Baidu Cloud and Google Drive. Go to the Permission Settings tab and under the Sync direction section, select a sync direction for your local shared folder. When this option is enabled, files will be downloaded to your local computer only when you open, modify, or pin a local copy to your computer. I got naively started with CloudSync (Synology's app that offers basic syncing with Dropbox) and I too would LOVE this feature. To set sync direction: Go to the Synced folders tab and click the wrench icon next to the shared folder to which you wish to set sync direction. On-demand Sync is an option for configuring Synology Drive sync tasks between a computer and your Synology NAS.
